I am happy to say that we had a WONDERFUL first day here in Room 16! It is always tough coming back from summer vacation (especially at a new school!), but your children proved to be great listeners and active participators. Today was spent mainly going over classroom and school routines. We did a great "getting to know you" activity called "Just Like Me!" ... be sure to ask your kids about it! Tomorrow we will continue to get to know each other and work on becoming better acquainted with our classroom, as well as the school. At the end of the day I received two thumbs up from all of the children, so I'm hoping they enjoyed their first day as much as I did!
In your child's red take-home folder, you will find A LOT of paper work. If you could fill out those papers and get them back to me at your earliest convenience, that would be great! You also should have received a newsletter from me (on purple paper) and a parent questionnaire. I hope my newsletter answered any initial questions you may have. I really appreciate you taking the time to fill out my questionnaire; you are your child's best teacher and your insight is very important to me. You also should have received a half slip of paper requesting that your child bring in a soft pencil case (some students already brought one in today and that's great!). I have found through past experiences that the soft pencil case works much better than the hard. I have included a link below to what I have found to work well. The pencil case does not need to be from Staples, I am mainly using this link as a visual. :o)

Again, I hope your child had a wonderful first day at Elmwood. I know we will have a great year together and I am looking forward to seeing their 22 smiling faces tomorrow! :o)
